Tonner Dolls 2006 Fall/Holiday Collection

[info]primalrage and I went over these yesterday after I got home from work, but by the time I was through at the post office I was too pissed to post about them.

There's nothing here as impressive as what we got in the Spring collection -- it's going to take a lot to top Ambassador in Pink -- but there are definitely some cute new dolls. Most notable to me are the two new 'fantasy'-themed lines premiering this season, Mrs. Claus and Santa's Elves and Cinderella. The elves are especially sweet; they share the same body as 8" Tiny Betsy McCall, feature an all new face sculpt with wee pointed ears, and two of the girls have the crazy hair colors I love (one pink, another with blue). All the dolls and outfits for Cinderella and her Wicked Stepsisters are gorgeous (although is it my imagination, or does Prince Charming look just a bit too much like Raoul in the Phantom movie? Hmmmmmmmmm?)

At any rate, it's not likely I'll be buying any of these. They're just too expensive. The little elves alone are $70 each, and with Mrs. Claus and the

Cinderella girls, by the time you get the basic doll and one outfit (and as always with Tonner, the outfits cost more than the dolls themselves), well, your most of the way to price of a small BJD. It's just not worth it. I'll be checking Happily in the next few days to see if their preorder prices are more reasonable. If so I might consider the pink elf, but honestly...meh. The few orders I have put in recently will almost certainly get canceled. This business with the Coco has put me even more off collecting than I was before.

Oh. My. God. Prince Charming HAS LONG FLOWING HAIR. *jawdrop* I am so tempted to buy him. I have always wanted to own an attractive, fashionable young man (with long flowing hair). Sadly, I don't think I can justify the expenditure. I'll just have to whimper over his picture. *sigh*

I wonder if they will make a wicked stepmother? Eh? EH? That would be interesting!

I wonder if they will make a wicked stepmother?

I wouldn't be at all surprised if she did turn up later--this company has already done the Wicked Witch of the West, the Queen of Hearts, and Endora from Bewitched.

I got the few I have from the local doll shop here in Philly, Happily Ever After. Their price isn't quite as bad as retail--$56 for the elves--but I don't know what their international shipping is like...I think you have to email them for rates.

Why must MRS. CLAUS be so FREAKING CUTE? There's something a bit wrong with that. And the pinky elves. Eeep.
